1. Tell us about yourself and what led you to start working on Veryable
I’m originally from Chicago and moved to Houston when I was 23; I’m 28 now. It’s been five years here. I’ve been on Veryable since December 2020. I have a degree in Business Management, and I started working at another warehouse job where they were using Veryable, so that’s how I got introduced to the platform.
2. What motivates you to keep showing up and doing great work through the platform?
I actually like where I work. We have good management, and I’m close with a lot of my co-workers and supervisors. Management has given me the opportunity to move up in the warehouse, and that motivates me. I’m working toward promotions and higher titles, and that sense of progress keeps me putting in my best effort.
3. What do you enjoy most about Veryable and how has it impacted your life - personally, professionally, and financially?
I like that we can set our own schedules. While we’re obligated to work, we’re essentially our own contractors. I can choose the hours that work best for me, whether it’s Monday to Wednesday, Thursday to Sunday, or other combinations. I also enjoy the variety of jobs available—not just warehouse work. I’ve worked at RTIC, Goodwill, and Specs, which keeps things interesting.
Financially, it’s been a big improvement. Getting paid every day allows me to save more and have extra spending money. At a regular job, I had to wait a week or two to get paid and plan around that. Veryable gives me more flexibility and control over my finances.
4. What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out on Veryable and wants to succeed?
Don’t stop bidding. There are multiple jobs you may want to work at, so be persistent. Be patient, when I first started, it took me about two weeks to get my first Op, but after that, it became consistent. Once you get started, opportunities keep coming.
5. What skills have you developed or improved since you started working through Veryable?
I gained my Forklift Certification, improved my computer skills, and learned how a warehouse functions overall. Before this, I had just graduated high school and was working in a restaurant for four years, so I wasn’t familiar with this type of work. Moving into warehouse work exposed me to new skills and diversified knowledge in the industry.
